Ray Zon Detra - Guitar Doctor Ray Zon Detra is a French-Canadian scientist who was specialising in intense visual stimuli and its effect on the human mind during the early fifties. The U.S. Government decided this kind of sinister genius needed to be kept under wraps and well away from the Russkies. So it was that the Doctor found himself in the fallout shelter with the other Rays. During his years in the shelter, Ray Z (as he is known to the other Rays) continued to work on these stimuli and it is the fruit of this work that we see today at Atomic Rays gigs. The work has taken its toll and now the good doctor is almost entirely blind without the assistance on his “special” spectacles. Furthermore, he has added the effects of sonic overkill through his guitar and experimentally loud amplification. Never fully satisfied with his work, he is single-minded in his determination to find the ultimate rocking spectacle. He is rumoured to be working for the Russkies nevertheless, so looking straight at the atomic back projection during a show is at the audience members' own risk. |
